Jesus did not leave them in uncertainty; he came near and spoke to them with sovereign clarity. All Authority in Heaven and on Earth Jesus proclaimed: 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.' This was the foundation of everything that followed. Jesus does not send his people out in human weakness or political influence. He sends his church forward backed by the supreme, universal authority of heaven over every nation, ruler, and power. The Great Commission and the Great Promise Jesus gave the mandate: 'Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.'
