Learn that we should not hide our mistakes from God but confess them honestly. Discover that God promised a Savior from the very beginning. In the peaceful garden, a tricky serpent tempted Eve to doubt God's goodness. Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit and felt afraid for the very first time. The Deceptive Voice One day, the serpent whispered tricky words to Eve: "Did God really say you must not eat from any tree? If you eat it, you will be like God!" Eve looked at the fruit; it looked delicious. She took a bite, and gave some to Adam, and he ate it too. They had disobeyed God. Hiding in the Trees Suddenly, their eyes were opened and they felt ashamed and afraid. In the cool of the evening, God walked in the garden calling gently: "Where are you?" Adam and Eve hid behind the trees. God knew what they had done. Disobedience brought sadness, tears, and separation from the garden. God's Loving Promise Even though there were sad consequences, God still loved them! God made warm clothes of animal skin to cover them tenderly. And right there, God gave an amazing promise: one day, a Savior (Jesus) would come to defeat the serpent and bring us back into God's family forever! If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us. 1 John 1:9 What did Adam and Eve do when they heard God walking in the garden? They hid behind the trees in fear They ran to hug God They sang a praise song They climbed a mountain They hid behind the trees in fear Because they had disobeyed, Adam and Eve felt afraid and tried to hide from God. Can anyone really hide from God? No, God sees and loves us always Yes, behind thick leaves Yes, in the dark Yes, under rocks No, God sees and loves us always God knows where we are and what we do; we can never hide from his loving eyes. What great promise did God give right in the garden? A Savior would come to defeat the enemy No more rain forever A golden chariot Everyone would fly A Savior would come to defeat the enemy God promised in Genesis 3:15 that one day a Savior (Jesus) would come to crush the serpent. If you make a mistake or disobey this week, do not hide or lie about it. Go straight to God and your parents, say "I am sorry," and ask for forgiveness. Dear God, I am sorry for the times I make the wrong choice. Thank you that I don't have to hide from you. Thank you for sending Jesus to be our Savior and forgive our sins.
