Years passed, and Abraham and Sarah were growing old without having any children. Abraham wondered how God's promise would come true. Then God met him under the night sky. A Question in the Night Abraham sat in his tent. He was getting old, and he and his wife Sarah did not have a baby yet. Abraham prayed honestly: "Lord God, you have blessed me, but I have no son. How will your promise come to pass?" Look Up at the Stars God gently took Abraham outside his tent into the cool night air. God pointed up to the velvet sky sprinkled with millions of glittering stars: "Look toward heaven and count the stars, if you can count them. So shall your offspring be!" Abraham Believed God Could Abraham count every star? Of course not, there were too many! But Abraham looked at the stars and looked at God, and Abraham believed the Lord with all his heart. God was so pleased with Abraham's faith. Years later, God gave Abraham and Sarah a baby boy named Isaac, and from that family, Jesus our Savior was born! No, there were too many to count Yes, there were only ten Yes, he finished in five minutes There were no stars No, there were too many to count The stars were countless, just as God promised Abraham's family would be. What was Abraham's response to God's promise? He believed the Lord He laughed and walked away He went to sleep He forgot about it He believed the Lord Genesis 15:6 says: "He believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness." Next time you see stars at night, count as many as you can, and remember that God's promises are bigger and brighter than all the stars in the sky. Father in heaven, thank you that you never break a promise. When I have questions or feel worried, help me to look up at the stars and remember that you are faithful.
