When King Baasha of Israel fortifies Ramah to blockade Judah, King Asa uses temple treasures to bribe Ben-hadad king of Syria to attack Israel; though successful militarily, Hanani the seer confronts Asa for trusting in foreign alliances rather than the LORD, declaring that "the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward Him"; Asa is enraged and imprisons Hanani.
