The Levites and singers are assembled from all their villages to celebrate the completion of Jerusalem’s fortified walls with thanksgiving and singing; Nehemiah divides the leaders into two great thanksgiving choirs, one led by Ezra and the other by Nehemiah, walking atop the walls in opposite directions to meet at the Temple with great rejoicing heard afar off.
