Following the death of Joshua, the tribes of Judah and Simeon unite to clear their inheritance, encountering the Canaanites and Perizzites at Bezek; they strike down ten thousand men, capture King Adoni-bezek, and sever his thumbs and great toes; the humbled king confesses that God has justly repaid him for cutting off the thumbs and toes of seventy kings who once gathered crumbs under his table.
